Tuesday's Teaser

TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:

Grab your current read.

Let the book fall open to a random page.

Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.

You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!

Here's mine:

We lost her for a few seconds while she gazed into the eyes of the doll, as little girls sometimes do. After a few more strokes [of the doll's hair], Melissa took the doll's arm between her fingers and made it wave to us.

Very sweet-and I'm glad you clarified exactly what was being stroked, it made much more sense.

Somehow this sounds a bit creepy to me. Am I completely out to lunch?

My teasers are here.

avisannschild,

No, you are correct with your hunch. This is excerpted from a wrenching interview with an eight yr old girl who has been sexually assaulted.

Cheryl, thanks for stopping by.

The title sounds like it could be a hard book to read.

You've got some serious subjects - in your Teaser and your To Read titles. Your Teaser was heart wrenching to me - don't think I could get through it. I highly recommend The Diving Bell & The Butterfly - surprisingly uplifting I found. My Teaser is here...

Hi Sherry, I've read this book before but I don't remember much of it. I remembered thinking how coincidental it was that someone whose name was Parent would be working with kids.
